About Bros Before Lows (BBL) Foundation

“Where Brotherhood Meets Purpose” The Bros Before Lows (BBL) Foundation is a federally incorporated not-for-profit established to directly combat the escalating male suicide crisis in Canada. We provide a low-barrier, high-impact "third space" that bridges the gap between peer-led isolation reduction and professional healthcare systems.

The Opportunity

BBL maintains a strict operational boundary separating our Pillar of Brotherhood (peer-led support) from our Pillar of Professional Support (clinical stabilization). We are actively seeking a credentialed Clinical Mental Health Expert to join our Board of Directors and take ownership of this vital Professional Support pillar.

This is a critical governance and oversight role. You will not be asked to directly facilitate groups or interview frontline volunteers. Instead, you will serve as our highest-level clinical authority, establishing the systemic safety guidelines that will allow our national network to scale securely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Oversight: Establish overarching clinical guidelines and provide macro-level safety oversight for all foundation programs.
  • Protocol Development: Finalize our clinical intake models, programmatic safety protocols, and guided crisis pathways to ensure alignment with national healthcare standards.
  • Curriculum Advisory: Advise our Training & Program Developer on curriculum protocols and establish psychological safety rubrics for volunteer screening.
  • Board Governance: Serve as a voting member of the Board of Directors, actively contributing to the foundation’s long-term strategic vision alongside the Board Chair, Executive Director, and other officers.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Fully credentialed and licensed mental health professional in good standing (e.g., Registered Psychotherapist, Psychologist, Psychiatrist, or MSW/RSW).
  • Extensive clinical experience in trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and suicide prevention.
  • A strong understanding of the boundaries required in peer-led support models vs. clinical therapy.
  • Previous experience serving on a non-profit board or in a clinical advisory capacity is highly preferred.
  • Deep empathy for the BBL mission and a passion for redefining male mental health support.
