Position Title: Clinical Counsellor/Mental Health Clinician Temporary Full-Time Until March 2026 with possibility of extension

We are currently recruiting a clinical counsellor to provide individual and group interventions to clients of WellFort. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in trauma informed care and work from an anti-racist and anti-oppressive framework.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct Care:

  • Provide short term (8-12 sessions) therapeutic counselling services from assessment to termination, including crisis intervention as needed. The clinical counsellor will utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities depending on the needs of the client (e.g. CBT, DBT, EFT, IFS, narrative, solutions focused, etc.)
  • Maintain strong documentation practices, consult with other members of the care team as necessary, and actively participate in clinical and peer supervision.
  • Plan and facilitate group programming to meet the unique needs of clients served.

Health Promotion and Education:

  • Actively participate in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of health promotion and education and support programs that are relevant and meaningful to the community served by WellFort, at off-site locations, and in collaboration with community partners.
  • Act as a resource to WellFort staff and in partner/community organizations on specific and general issues regarding community mental health.
  • Identify gaps in services and promotes the introduction of revised or new services.

Advocacy and Community Development:

  • Provide case advocacy to ensure that clients receive appropriate community and health supports.
  • Participates in community projects or WellFort activities to provide education, information and/or to develop collaborative strategies

Contribution to Team and Centre Activities:

  • Participate in the overall activities of the health centre (e.g.,) in-service training, committees, special events, staff meetings, and shared staff responsibilities
  • Communicates clearly, listen actively, be open to feedback, handle conflict appropriately, and display sensitivity to others
  • Participate in WellFort’s commitment to becoming discrimination-free and an inclusive health centre that strives to ensure that programs and services are as accessible as possible
  • Maintains the reputation and confidentiality of the health centre and its clients at all times
  • Works in a manner that reflects WellFort’s mission, values, and service delivery approach
  • Adheres to all applicable WellFort policies and procedures
  • Develops and maintain a flexible work schedule that accommodates the needs of the clients, community and the Centre

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A master’s degree in social work or a related field.
  • Registered member in good standing with the OCSWSSW or College of Psychotherapists.
  • Well-developed counselling skills including assessment, interviewing, goal setting and short-term focused work are essential. Education/training in group work is required.
  • Three to five years’ experience with evidence-based treatments preferred.
  • Strong understanding of and commitment to anti oppressive, anti-racist frameworks, trauma informed, and harm reduction frameworks.
  • Experience providing therapeutic counselling and support to groups who are significantly impacted by the SDOH and who experience stigma, discrimination, and oppression.
  • Experience planning, implementing, and evaluating support groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an interdisciplinary team where the skills and responsibilities of all are recognized and respected.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office applications and Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills appropriate at all organizational levels.
  • Experience in values based non-profit or social services organization would be an asset.
  • Fluency in any a language relevant to the Peel community (particularly Punjabi or Spanish)

The successful candidate will demonstrate a willingness to participate in WellFort’s commitment to becoming an inclusive, barrier-free health centre and an ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.

This position requires flexibility in hours of work to support accessible program service delivery and our hours of operation. This position requires some evening and weekend work.

Hiring Salary Range: $65,375 - $77,151
