Church Administrator
Christ First is a community of faith located in south Mississauga. We are looking for an experienced Church Administrator to join our staff team. The Church Administrator creates and maintains a welcoming and professional Office presence that ensures the smooth and efficient functioning of the day-to-day operations of the church. This position provides administrative, financial and some communications support to ministerial staff, church leaders, members and volunteers. Type of Position
- Permanent, part-time, 30 hours per week
- On-site 5 days per week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Desired start date for this position is March 30, 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- manage walk-in, phone, and email inquiries from staff, members and the general public
- assist ministerial staff with administrative tasks, scheduling and weekly worship service preparation
- manage accounts payable and other accounting tasks as assigned
- prepare Office budget, manage equipment, organize records
- provide first point of contact for pastoral care as needed
- provide back-up to Communications Coordinator as needed for event promotion, church newsletter and website.
- support Council and Committee Chairs as required
Qualifications
Five or more years of experience in an administrative position.
- demonstrated strong interpersonal, leadership, problem-solving, organizational and time management skills
- ability to foster effective working relationships in a complex environment.
- excellent written, verbal and digital communication skills.
- knowledge of basic accounting and budgeting.
- proficiency in Google Suite platform, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), QuickBooks, Canva and Eventbrite.
- comfortable with IT systems and learning new software.
- working knowledge of using an online data management system (such as Sunergo)
- understanding of The United Church and its Affirming ministry.
- people-oriented, empathetic and diplomatic.
- ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.
- self-motivated and a team player.
- able and willing to work overtime or evenings to attend Council/Committee meetings or church events if necessary.
This position reports to the Lead Minister and Council Chair.
