About Us

The Black Canadian Child and Family Services Society (BCCFSS) is a community-based

organization committed to strengthening Black families and ensuring that Black children grow

up in environments that affirm their identity, dignity, and potential. Through culturally grounded

programming, mentorship, and family support initiatives, we work to create safe and

empowering spaces where children can thrive.

Position Overview

BCCFSS is seeking compassionate and enthusiastic Volunteer Children’s Program

Facilitators to support community programming for Black children and families. Volunteers

will help facilitate engaging activities that promote creativity, confidence, belonging, and

positive identity development.

This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children and contributing

to programs that uplift Black communities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in facilitating children’s activities such as arts and crafts, storytelling, games, and group

discussions

• Help create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for children

• Support program planning and preparation of materials

• Encourage positive participation and engagement among children

• Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to deliver meaningful programming

• Uphold child safety and program guidelines

Ideal Candidates

We welcome volunteers with experience or interest in:

• Early Childhood Education

• Child and Youth Work

• Social Work

• Teaching or Education

• Community Development

• Psychology or related fields

We especially encourage students, educators, and community members who are passionate

about supporting Black children and families to apply.

Skills and Qualities

• Warm, patient, and supportive approach with children

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• Cultural awareness and commitment to equity and inclusion

• Reliability and willingness to learn

Time Commitment

Flexible volunteer opportunities are available for weekday or weekend programming.
