
Chief Operating Officer
BioTalent Canada is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to serve as the strategic and operational partner to the President & CEO. The COO will translate strategy into measurable results, strengthen financial sustainability, and ensure the organization’s continued leadership within Canada’s bio-economy.
This is a high-impact role for an entrepreneurial leader who thrives on balancing strategy and execution - from overseeing diversified revenue streams to driving organizational performance and building an inclusive, high-performing culture.
What You’ll Do
- Translate strategy into clear operating plans with KPIs, budgets, and timelines
- Lead and diversify revenue streams (federal funding, sponsorships, fee-for-service, and grants)
- Oversee operational revenue-generating activities, project budgets, and deliverables
- Support continuous improvement of processes, systems, and technology to increase capacity and efficiency
- Provide inclusive, affable leadership across departments, strengthening people and culture
- Build compelling value propositions for government, partners, and core audiences in the industry
- Represent BioTalent Canada nationally as a trusted, credible voice for Canada’s bio-economy
What You Bring
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience (including 5+ in senior operations or executive roles)
- Proven ability to operate at the intersection of federal funding, sales-driven revenue models, and sectoral partnerships
- Strong business and financial acumen with a track record of meeting ambitious revenue targets.
- Strategic thinker with intuitive cross-disciplinary insight (federal, sectoral, and sales)
- A people-first leader with experience embedding inclusion, collaboration, and performance into culture
- Demonstrated interest and aptitude in artificial intelligence (AI) and applying emerging tools to enhance efficiency and decision-making
- Sectoral association or national non-profit experience strongly preferred
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
