About Kids Brain Health Network
Since 2009, Kids Brain Health Network (KBHN) has driven transformative projects and real-world solutions that improve outcomes for children and youth living with neurodisabilities, and their families. This innovative, evidence-informed work made KBHN the first national research network in Canada dedicated to children's neurodisabilities.
Established in 2016, Kids Brain Health Foundation (KBHF) is the charitable arm of KBHN. The Foundation exists to improve outcomes for children and youth living with neurodisabilities by accelerating the implementation, scale, and spread of evidence- based interventions. Working in close partnership with KBHN, KBHF mobilizes philanthropic capital to bridge the gap between research and real-world impact— partnering with communities, service providers, researchers, industry, and government to make life-changing interventions accessible in homes, schools, and communities nationwide.
Since their inception, KBHN and KBHF have invested more than $100 million in national initiatives advancing early diagnosis, expanding access to effective therapies, and strengthening family supports.
KBHF is now entering a critical phase of growth—expanding beyond traditional grantmaking toward venture philanthropy, sustainable social enterprise support, and innovative funding mechanisms that enable lasting systems change. As part of this evolution, the Kids Brain Health Innovation Fund (KBH-IF) launched in 2025 to accelerate the growth, scale, and spread of tested, effective innovations emerging from the KBHN and KBHF portfolios.
Together, these three entities form KBH+, an integrated national platform delivering impact for children with neurodisabilities. Through coordinated efforts across government funding, philanthropy, and impact investing, KBH+ drives discovery, mobilizes funding, and scales proven solutions to advance early identification, effective interventions, and access to family supports across Canada.
KBHF operates through KBH+’s three interconnected entities, each with a distinct yet complementary mandate:
KBH Network
Funded by the Government of Canada’s Strategic Science Fund, it funds a range of programming, including research grants, strategic implementation and scale-up grants, and operational support across all three KBH entities.
KBH Foundation
The philanthropic arm — responsible for fundraising, donor stewardship, community engagement, and grant- making in support of pediatric neurodisability.
KBH Innovation Fund
The impact investment vehicle — mobilizing capital and partnerships to accelerate innovation and translation of research into real-world outcomes for children, youth, and families.
