Organization Overview:

Alberta Native Friendship Centres Association (ANFCA) is a leading charitable organization dedicated to supporting its active member Friendship Centres who, through program and service delivery, engage with and improve the quality of life for urban Indigenous people. With an annual budget of $10 million and a team of 20 employees and volunteers, we strive to implement the strategic direction provided by the Board and to guide the operational implementation of programs and services.

Position Summary:

The CEO is the highest-ranking executive in the organization, responsible for the overall strategic, operational, and financial management. The CEO ensures ANFCA’s sustainability, growth, and alignment with its mission. This position requires a visionary leader with a strong commitment to the betterment of Alberta Friendship Centres all with a goal to uphold and advocate for effective resources to address the needs of the growing urban Indigenous population across Alberta and the ability to inspire and mobilize stakeholders at all levels.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement the organization's strategic plan in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
  • Ensure that the organization's mission and vision are clearly articulated and effectively communicated to all stakeholders.
  • Identify and respond to internal and external issues that affect the organization.

2. Operational Management

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations, ensuring effective and efficient implementation of programs and services.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing organizational culture.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.

3. Financial Oversight

  • Oversee the organization's budget, ensuring financial sustainability and accountability.
  • Collaborate with managers on fundraising planning and implementation, including identifying resource requirements, researching funding sources, establishing strategies, and maintaining relationships with donors.
  • Ensure that financial records are maintained accurately and reported in a timely manner.

4. Board Relations

  • Serve as the principal liaison between the Board of Directors and the organization’s employees.
  • Assist in the orientation of Board members.
  • Attend all Executive Committee and Board of Directors’ meetings and provide regular updates on organizational performance.

5. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represent ANFCA to donors, partners, government agencies, and the public.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to advance ANFCA’s mission.
  • Advocate for Alberta member Friendship Centres at local, national, and international levels.

6. Human Resources

  • Lead, motivate, and mentor a high-performance management team.
  • Ensure that the organization has the talent necessary to achieve its goals.
  • Implement effective staff performance management and professional development programs.
