The German-Canadian Care Home is seeking a visionary and values-driven Chief Executive Officer to guide the organization through a landmark redevelopment initiative and into its next chapter of service to the community.

Founded in 1969 and governed by the German-Canadian Benevolent Society of BC, the Care Home has earned a reputation for excellence in long-term, person-centred care. With deep ties to Vancouver’s German-speaking community and a longstanding commitment to cultural inclusion, the organization is now preparing to expand and modernize its facility based on the innovative Comfortzeit® model—a progressive approach to elder care that blends autonomy, relational support, and therapeutic environments.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer is responsible and accountable for the effective leadership of the German-Canadian Care Home including strategy, operations, site redevelopment, and stakeholder relations. This includes stewarding a large, multidisciplinary team of over 200 professionals and volunteers, ensuring innovative care – including the Comforzeit® model of care, maintaining strong public-sector partnerships, and supporting the Society’s vital fundraising and community outreach efforts.

The ideal candidate brings progressive senior-level administrative management experience in a healthcare environment, preferably related to long term care, mental health and/or physical rehab. Central to the role will be experience leading change, improving programs or introducing a new innovative model of care. The ability to support a multi year redevelopment will be key. A collaborative, culturally attuned leader, with experience managing a unionized workforce, the next CEO will bring clarity, warmth, and resolve to a role that sits at the intersection of care innovation, organizational leadership, and community legacy.

The salary range for the position is $150,000-$205,000, plus benefits. Consideration will be given to the candidate’s background and experience when establishing the final salary.
