ROLE SUMMARY

InnovativeCommunities.org Foundation is a Canadian registered charity with a focus on the alleviation of poverty and the advancement of education. It is a volunteer organization working with others to build sustainable communities around the world. But more than that, it is an ongoing exercise in working collaboratively, innovatively, and transparently so that we can provide the maximum benefit to those we serve.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Engagement Officer is responsible for supporting the recruitment and engagement of ICO volunteers and maintaining the HR database. This includes successfully onboarding team members, promoting the values of the organization, attracting and retaining talented volunteers, and ensuring a culture of strong contribution and collaboration.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of all processes to support recruitment and retention of our most valuable resource - our volunteers.
  2. Support the Communications teams in messaging and external marketing.
  3. Provide advice, consultation, and coaching to team members regarding ICO philosophy, values and mission.
  4. Advise the leadership team on human resources matters and promote best practices in engaging volunteer team members.
  5. Identify areas for improvement and enhance the sense of community within the organization.
  6. Identify recruitment methods, networking opportunities, and engagement opportunities with our local communities.
  7. Initiate policy development that drives organizational cohesiveness.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

  • A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, or a related field plus a minimum of three (3) years of recent, progressive management experience.
  • Experience working in the non-profit sector with specific experience in a registered charity being considered an asset.
  • Experience developing programs and procedures for recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and retention.
  • Criminal Record Check

Skills And Abilities

  • Strong leadership skills including the ability to develop teams.
  • Experience working in a volunteer organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong, positive relationships and effectively work with others in a collaborative manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a volunteer focused approach to finding creative and proactive ways to improve service.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage difficult conversations and coach volunteers towards change.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Desire to support local humanitarians in their efforts to convert generous donor resources into life changing moments in the lives of others.
