Rags To Riches Cat Rescue is a volunteer-run, federally registered charity with a big mission: to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome forgotten cats and kittens abandoned across southwestern Ontario’s rural communities.

Many of the cats we save have been dumped, abused, or left to fend for themselves in harsh conditions — freezing winters, predator-filled woods, or remote areas where help never comes. With zero government funding and limited resources, our small but dedicated team works around the clock to give these animals what every living being deserves: safety, medical care, love, and a second chance at life.

Every cat in our care is spayed or neutered, fully vetted, and given the individualized attention they need to heal and thrive. We also work tirelessly to combat overpopulation and educate the community about proper cat care and welfare.

In 2025, 257 cats found their forever homes through our rescue! In the first seven months of 2026 alone, another 316 cats found their forever homes! This is a true testament to what compassion, resilience, and a caring community can achieve when we come together.

We are seeking short-term fosters to temporarily house adoptable cats for anywhere from a day to a week. Sometimes the cats need their vaccinations updated, and they must be pulled from one of our partner stores for 24-48 hours before being returned. If the cat is feeling ill after vaccinations, they may need to be housed for another few days before being returned to the partner store. Sometimes our volunteer drivers are only available to bring the cats to the partner store cities a day or two ahead of the spot in the partner store actually being available, so the cats need temporary housing until the partner store spot opens up again. If you can also help with transporting adoptable cats from the shelter at 132 Colonel Talbot Rd, Tillsonburg (visits by appointment only) to our partner stores in London (this is the city we need the most help with!), Guelph, Waterloo, and Stratford, that would be ideal! But it is not a requirement to be a short-term foster.

We provide all the food and litter you need for the foster cat(s), to be picked up from our shelter. These cats will all already be fixed and have received vaccinations before going out to any of our partner stores. If you can help us out with this job, please fill out our Foster Application today! Under the "Please check all foster opportunities you are interested in:" question, please select "Short-term fostering cats for partner stores". Thank you for your interest in helping to save cats' lives!
