Position Summary: The Case Coordinator is a frontline worker who provides intensive care management support to pregnant and parenting youth. This includes service navigation, coordination, and advocacy to reduce barriers to education, basic needs, and mental health and substance use health in a trauma-informed environment.

Community Development: In addition, the role has a strong community development component—fostering trust and partnerships with refugee, newcomer, and other marginalized communities to ensure that pregnant and parenting youth who are often underrepresented or hard to reach are aware of, connected to, and able to access Youville’s programs and services. The position contributes to both individual client outcomes and broader community engagement.

Qualifications – Education

  • University or College education in Social Work, Social Service Work, Child and Youth Work, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Eligible for membership in an appropriate professional organization
  • Extensive training and knowledge of social services and community development

Professional Experience

  • Experience working with vulnerable youth from diverse backgrounds, including refugees and newcomers
  • Experience in treatment planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Experience in community outreach and partnership development
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working in partnership with community agencies and coalitions

Key Competencies:

  • Ability to engage clients and establish and maintain supportive, trusting relationships
  • Understanding of barriers and challenges faced by pregnant and parenting youth, particularly racialized, refugee, and newcomer youth
  • Knowledge of youth development, trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and case management
  • Strong understanding of community and social service systems and resources for pregnant and parenting youth
  • Commitment to anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and trauma-informed practices
  • Strong facilitation and group engagement skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to work primarily days from Monday to Friday with flexibility for occasional evening or weekend commitments for community outreach

Assets (Nice to Have):

  • Fluency in one or more languages in addition to English (Arabic, Somali, Dari, French, etc.)
  • Experience facilitating psychoeducational or therapeutic groups
  • Established connections with Ottawa’s African, Caribbean, Black (ACB) and/or First Nations, Inuit, Métis (FNIM) communities
  • Knowledge of immigration and settlement systems and services
