Capital Campaign Manager

Job Summary Reporting to the Executive Director, the ideal candidate will be a strong advocate for both

Hospice Quinte and its donors. The Capital Campaign Manager is responsible for overseeing and

developing the capital campaign plan, including all phases of the campaign, event planning,

cultivation and campaign communications and publications in conjunction with the Executive

Director and Capital Campaign Committee. The Capital Campaign Manager is responsible for

campaign strategy, managing prospect lists, developing and preparing solicitation strategies,

preparing grant applications, donor interface, reporting to the Hospice Quinte Board of

Directors and coordinating board members and volunteers throughout the campaign.

The individual in this role will be tasked with building relationships with individuals, donors,

businesses, foundations, and other sources for the purposes of soliciting for the capital

campaign. Adept at working in a fast paced and changing environment, the ideal candidate will

be focused, passionate and dedicated to exceeding donor expectations and will foster a strong

team focus through collaborative and supportive work. The individual will also work closely with

the Donor Relations Manager, Event Coordinator and the Communications Coordinator.

Qualifications Education

▪ Graduate from a recognized university or college with a degree/diploma in

Fundraising Management, Fund Development, Business or Marketing and Sales or

the equivalent education and experience.

Experience

▪ At least three years of proven experience and knowledge of:

o Annual giving program implementation (including new donor development,

renewals, stewardship)

o Major gift programs (including prospect research cultivation, personal

solicitation, acknowledgement and recognition)

o Capital campaign projects

o Comfort in speaking to large groups and preparing and facilitating presentations

o Recruitment, training and motivation of leadership volunteers

o Fundraising software and information management. Experience with Donor

Perfect and Grant Connect an asset

o Member of the Association of Fund-Raising Professionals Canada

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities ▪ The Capital Campaign Manager must be result-driven, a self-starter and highly

motivated with a leadership style that fosters collaborative and productive

relationships

▪ Knowledge of fundraising principles and practices

▪ Track record of successful grant writing

▪ Proven ability to raise annual funds in excess of $1.5 million and for major capital

campaigns in excess of $4 million

▪ Excellent analytical, organizational, time management and problem-solving skills

▪ High computer literacy, comfortable using both Microsoft Office software as well as

familiarity with database management and customer relationship management tools

▪ High degree of integrity, ethics, and dedication to the mission of Hospice Quinte

▪ Knowledge of the tax benefits of philanthropic giving

▪ Possess a reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license

Key Responsibilities Under the direction of the Executive Director and in cooperation and consultation with other

Hospice Quinte staff the Capital Campaign Manager will perform the following:

▪ Create an annual comprehensive capital campaign plan including setting goals,

objectives and fundraising targets consistent with the vision, mission and strategic plan

of Hospice Quinte and in accordance with ethical fundraising principles

▪ Utilize the existing database to develop solicitation lists and coordinate donor

presentations with volunteers and Hospice Quinte staff members

▪ Meet agreed income and productivity budgets/targets through successful management

of activities

▪ Identify and build the campaign case for support based on organizational and

community needs

▪ Grow individual giving, major gifts, annual giving, cause-marketing and grant funding to

achieve or exceed the fundraising goals and budgetary needs of Hospice Quinte

▪ Direct participation of key volunteers, including appropriate board members, in fund

development activities

▪ Develop, document and maintain a donor recognition and stewardship program for

individual donors, foundations, corporate relations and planned giving

▪ Seek out capital grant opportunities, prepare and submit applications and provide

accurate follow-up reporting to the founder or foundation

▪ Manage and maintain the donor database to ensure data integrity

▪ Establish and manage information tracking processes regarding acknowledgement,

recognition, ongoing communications and continued cultivation and solicitation of past

and current donors to enhance their relationship with Hospice Quinte and increase

likelihood of continued contributions

▪ Create solicitation and engagement strategies to retain current and attract new donors

▪ Identify, initiate and maintain relationships with prospective individual and corporate

donors

▪ Engage in cold calling as well as developing and implementing cultivation strategies to

attract new partners and donors to the organization

▪ Develop familiarity with the philanthropic community of Hospice Quinte’s service area.

Supervisory Responsibilities ▪ Supervise and direct the work of volunteers and board members assisting with the capital

campaign

▪ Delegate tasks to ensure proper workflow

▪ Continuously monitor employe performance and identify areas of improvement

▪ Address any concerns or issues identified by team members

▪ Provide training and orientation to new team members

Organizational Responsibilities ▪ Participate and contribute to encourage and support activities which promote effective

team functioning throughout Hospice Quinte

▪ Participate in assigned Hospice Quinte activities, events, and committees

▪ Demonstrate appropriate boundaries with staff, volunteers, clients, and members of the

community

▪ Attend meetings, conferences, and training as required

Working Conditions ▪ 37.5 hour work week with the flexibility to work some weekends and evenings, for which

time off in lieu will be given with the approval of the Executive Director

▪ Work location is at Hospice Quinte’s Stan Klemencic Care Centre with some provision for

remote work with approval of the Executive Director

▪ Position starts with 15 days of vacation each fiscal year

▪ Position has 10 sick leave days available each fiscal year

▪ $87,022 - $94,122.60/year
