Capital Campaign Cabinet Opportunity with North Halton Hospice

Would you like to play a crucial role in building the first hospice in North Halton? We are a charitable organization committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families during their most vulnerable moments. Working in partnership with the community, donors, and government, we are leading an initiative to design, fund, and build a residential hospice that will provide compassionate end-of-life care close to home.

As the North Halton Hospice enters an exciting new chapter of transformation, we are seeking influential and committed volunteers to join our Capital Campaign Cabinet, which is the chief fundraising body for our campaign - an essential leadership group responsible for helping secure the philanthropic support needed to bring this vision to life.

Role Overview

Capital Campaign Cabinet Members serve as strategic leaders and ambassadors for the Hospice’s fundraising campaign. This is a hands-on role focused on advancing campaign strategy, strengthening donor relationships, and supporting the successful achievement of fundraising goals.

Working closely with staff leadership, Cabinet Members contribute insight, open doors to key networks, and actively participate in donor engagement efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set a standard of personal philanthropic support that will inspire others to follow
  • Participate in capital campaign planning and strategy discussions as well as campaign-related outreach, as appropriate
  • Provide timely and clear input and approval to professional staff regarding all aspects of campaign planning, campaign policies, solicitation and recognition strategies
  • Provide advice and counsel to staff and serve as a sounding board for campaign activities and functions
  • Review campaign progress and contribute to strategy refinement as needed
  • Attend campaign meetings, events, and key milestones
  • Act as an ambassador for the campaign within professional and community networks
  • Promote awareness and understanding of the Hospice’s mission and capital campaign
  • Help identify, cultivate, and connect with prospective donors
  • Make 2-3 donor visits each month
  • Support stewardship efforts, including thanking and recognizing donors
  • Act in the best long-term interest of the Hospice and the community

Skills and Experience

  • Strong community presence and established networks within North Halton or surrounding regions
  • Experience in fundraising, business development, leadership, or governance is an asset
  • Ability to influence, connect, and engage others
  • Strategic thinking and sound judgment
  • Commitment to the success of community-based initiatives

What You Bring

  • A genuine interest in advancing access to hospice and palliative care
  • Willingness to leverage your network and influence to support fundraising efforts
  • Confidence in engaging in donor conversations or opening doors to opportunities
  • A collaborative and proactive approach
  • Professionalism and credibility in representing the Hospice

Time Commitment

  • Approximately 5–8 hours per month
  • Participation in bi-monthly campaign meetings
  • Involvement in donor outreach, meetings, and campaign events as appropriate
  • Term aligned with the duration of the Capital Campaign (approximately 24–36 months)

Accountability & Authority

  • Accountable to campaign leadership and aligned with the objectives set by the Foundation Board
  • Serves in an advisory and ambassadorial capacity with no formal authority over operations unless otherwise authorized

Support

Cabinet Members are fully supported by the Executive Director and Development leadership. Staff will provide campaign strategy, donor materials, coordination, and ongoing reporting to enable effective participation.
