CANADEM is seeking a motivated and creative Intern to join our team. This role offers a strong introduction to how international experts support individuals and communities around the world, with hands‑on experience across our communications and operational work. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about social impact, curious about how strategic communications can strengthen that work, and energized by learning in a collaborative environment. The intern will help enhance CANADEM’s online presence, engage with our global stakeholders, and contribute to the smooth running of our day‑to‑day operations.

CANADEM is an NGO committed to rostering and mobilizing the right experts and empowering them to enhance the impact of global assistance operations. The main pillar of our work is a roster of over 70,000 screened experts skilled in various aspects of elections, humanitarian operations and development work. CANADEM services UN agencies, as well as governments and international non-government organizations (for additional details, see www.canadem.ca).

  • Assist in the development and execution of communication strategies across various electronic platforms.
  • Create content to enhance social media posts.
  • Conduct research on industry trends, competitor activities, and audience preferences to inform content creation.
  • Proofread and edit reports and other written content to ensure accuracy and adherence to brand guidelines before publication.
  • Monitor social media channels for engagement opportunities, responding to comments or messages in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the preparation of meetings with Board Members and other stakeholders.
  • Other support tasks, as required.

Qualifications

  • Post‑secondary degree in communications, political science, international relations, or a related field; an advanced degree in communications is considered a strong asset.
  • Knowledge and interest in international relations, international humanitarian assistance operations, international development or other related disciplines.
  • Strong research skills with the ability to analyze data from Google Analytics or other tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to interact with stakeholders in a professional manner.
  • Familiarity and interest in digital marketing concepts and practices and social media trends.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to deal with a fast-paced, deadline driven, ever-changing environment.
  • Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Canva or similar software is an asset.
  • Strong proficiency with Word, Excel, and other business software, combined with the ability to work confidently with databases and related data‑management tools.
  • Ability to work in teams, with respect for diversity.
