About Camp BB Riback
Established in 1956, Camp BB Riback is a vibrant summer camp located on the picturesque shores of Pine Lake, Alberta. For decades, it has been a cornerstone of Jewish camping in Western Canada, offering children in grades one through ten a place to grow, connect, and create lifelong memories. Rooted in Jewish values and traditions, our camp fosters community, leadership, and personal growth in a safe and inspiring environment.
Camp BB Riback provides a wide range of creative and recreational activities including land sports, creative arts, ropes courses, horseback riding, water sports, and mountain biking. Our programs are tailored to each age group and designed to be inclusive, enriching, and fun—led by a passionate and energetic staff committed to nurturing leadership skills and personal development.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a visionary and dynamic Executive Director to lead Camp BB Riback into its next chapter. This is a unique opportunity to guide a beloved institution, strengthen its financial sustainability, and expand its impact on future generations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and oversee all aspects of camp operations, programming, and administration
- Partner with the Board of Directors to implement long-term vision and growth strategies
- Lead fundraising and donor relations, including stewardship of our newly established endowment
- Recruit, mentor, and manage seasonal and year-round staff
- Ensure the highest standards of camper care, safety, and program excellence
- Manage daily schedules, organize activities, and maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment
- Serve as the public face of Camp BB Riback, building strong relationships with families, alumni, and community partners
Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience in nonprofit management, camping, education, or related fields
- Strong fundraising, financial management, and organizational skills
- Passion for Jewish camping, values, and community life
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
- Ability to inspire staff, campers, and stakeholders with vision and integrity
- Experience and passion for youth development and working with children
- Strong leadership and organizational skills to manage staff, programming, and operations
- Knowledge of health, safety, and risk management protocols in outdoor or camp settings
- Ability to create an inclusive, fun, and supportive environment for diverse participants
- Previous experience in team management and program planning is an asset
- A degree in Education, Recreation Management, Child Psychology, or a related field is preferred
