On Call Casual Emergency Shelter Worker
Job Title: ON-CALL/CASUAL Transition House Worker
Classification: Grid Level 10
Type of Employment: On-Call/Casual Transition House Worker aka House Parent
Wage: According to CUPE Collective Agreement and/or inhouse incumbents’ current status.
Shift schedule: Varied positions (Cook, Housekeeper, Awake Night Staff, Family Support Worker, etc.) and varied shift times (7am to 12pm, 7am to 1pm, 4pm to 11pm, 3pm to 11pm, 11pm to 7am, 10am to 6pm)
Commencement: Immediately
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or equivalent work-related experience.
- Knowledge of issues affecting families in crisis including, family violence, cross-cultural knowledge of issues, conflict resolution, HIV/AIDS, addictions, mental illness, grief, sexual abuse, child protection.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Must have up to date and demonstrated experience/knowledge of available community resources, issues relating to and affecting Aboriginal people.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Requirements:
- Training in all positions will be required.
- Shift work, weekends, evenings and night shifts may be required according to shelter needs.
- Provide a criminal record check.
- Recent medical certificate (including TB test).
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Food Safe Certificate.
