Business Development Coordinator

Position Summary:

Canada’s electricity sector is experiencing significant growth and transformation. As Canadians electrify their homes and vehicles, integrate renewable energy technologies into the grid and embrace the impact of digital technology, it is crucial to bring together employers, unions, post-secondary institutions and policymakers to address the labour challenges confronting the sector.

Electricity Human Resources Canada (EHRC) is working with its partners to build a world-class, safety-focused, innovative and inclusive electricity workforce. A key element of our work is telling this sector’s stories to various audiences across various channels.

The Business Development Coordinator will support the Business Development team in delivering day-to-day operations and administrative functions for Electricity Human Resources Canada. This role is primarily focused on coordination, data management, and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of business development activities across membership, sponsorship, and program initiatives. In this role, you can expect to:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the Business Development team across outreach, partnerships, and engagement activities.
  • Manage and maintain CRM data, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and proper tracking of contacts, organizations, and opportunities, including pipeline updates and activity logging.
  • Support tracking of membership renewals, sponsorship opportunities, and follow-ups with partners and prospects.
  • Prepare and maintain tracking tools and reports (Excel, CRM dashboards) to support visibility on performance and progress.
  • Coordinate email outreach, follow-ups, and internal communications.
  • Assist in scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and coordinating logistics with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, programs, finance) to ensure alignment and effective information flow.
  • Prepare travel arrangements, including itinerary planning, hotel bookings, and expense reimbursement processing.
  • Manage and support LinkedIn presence, including posting, content updates, and engagement tracking related to business development team in coordination with marketing and communications team.
  • Organize documentation and support reporting and follow-up tracking to ensure workflow efficiency and accountability.
  • Assist with lead generation, including preparing membership and MOU proposals and presentations.
  • Other duties in line with the mission and objectives of EHRC as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • 1–3 years of experience in an administrative, coordination, assistant, customer service, or business support role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English and French;
  • Proficient in corporate productivity tools, particularly CRM systems (e.g., Insightly, Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho);
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively;
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong listening and presentation skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail;
  • Affable team player who excels working with team of high performers.
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn or digital engagement tools for basic profile management and content support is an asset; and
  • Comfortable supporting email /calls outreach, follow-ups, and professional communications with external stakeholders

Assets include:

  • Post-Secondary degree/diploma in a relevant discipline or relevant workplace experience;
  • Experience supporting a leadership team in an assistant or coordination role is an asset;
  • Experience in a coordination or support role, with exposure to sales or business development functions considered an asset;
  • Understanding of the needs and requirements of electricity and related organizations and related industries in Canada;
  • Specific experience with Insightly CRM.

Work Environment

Ottawa-based, hybrid work environment (minimum 3 days in office per week).

Small office with a team of about 18 staff.

Close to public transport, paid parking available, local amenities nearby.

Some travel across Canada may be required.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a term, 12-month contract with the possibility of an extension.

Salary: $52,000 to $61,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

15 days of paid vacation annually.
