BOARD OF DIRECTOR VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Kababayan Multicultural Centre (KMC) is seeking passionate, strategic, and communityminded leaders to join our Board of Directors.

About Us: Founded in 1977, Kababayan Multicultural Centre (KMC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering newcomers, immigrants, and diverse communities to successfully settle, integrate, and thrive in Canada. For nearly five decades, we have provided accessible, client-centred programs and services, including settlement and employment support, as well as targeted programs for equity-deserving groups, including racialized youth, women, and seniors.

Position: Board of Director (3 Vacancies)

We Are Seeking Expertise In

To complement the current Board's skills and support KMC's strategic priorities, we encourage applications from individuals with leadership experience in one or more of the following areas:

Finance & Audit

• CPA designation or equivalent financial leadership experience
• Financial management and operational oversight
• Not-for-profit accounting and financial reporting
• Fund accounting and grant compliance
• Audit, risk management, budgeting, and internal controls

Fundraising & Corporate Partnerships

• Corporate sponsorships and philanthropic partnerships
• Annual giving and fundraising campaigns
• Special events and donor engagement
• Resource development and revenue diversification

Human Resources & Organizational Development

• Human Resources leadership
• Employment law and Employment Standards Act
• Organizational design and change management
• Talent development
• Governance and HR policy

Business Leadership & Entrepreneurship

• Business owners, executives, or senior leaders
• Strategic planning and organizational growth
• Corporate networks and sponsorship development
• Entrepreneurial mindset and innovation
• Community influence and relationship building

Key Responsibilities

As a member of KMC's Board of Directors, you will:

• Provide strategic leadership, governance, and oversight.
• Uphold KMC's mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities.
• Contribute to organizational sustainability and long-term planning.
• Approve annual budgets and oversee financial performance.
• Monitor organizational risks and governance practices.
• Support policy development and organizational accountability.
• Champion equity, diversity, inclusion, and community engagement.
• Serve as an ambassador for KMC within the community and professional networks.
• Support fundraising, partnerships, and organizational sustainability.
• Participate actively in Board and Committee meetings.
• Attend organizational events and represent KMC within the community.

Please Note: This is a volunteer position and is not financially compensated.

• Previous Board experience is an asset but is not required.

Applicants may reside anywhere in Ontario. Preference may be given to candidates based in the Greater Toronto Area who are able to participate in occasional in-person meetings and community events.

Term & Time Commitment

Board Term

• Three (3) years
• Directors may serve a maximum of two consecutive terms (six years total).

Time Commitment

• Monthly Board meetings (virtual and/or in person)
• Participation on at least one Board Committee
• Attendance at selected organizational events and fundraising activities

Meeting Format

• Hybrid (virtual and in-person)

*****************************************************************Selection Process: The KMC Nomination and Board Development Committee oversees the application and nomination process to fill the vacant position on the KMC Board. The new board member will be elected and proclaimed during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 07, 2026. Once elected by the members, they will serve a three-year term.
