Second Stage Dance is a registered Canadian charity working to make dance more accessible, affordable, and sustainable. Through the collection, redistribution, and reuse of dancewear, costumes, shoes, and accessories, we help reduce financial barriers to participation while extending the life of valuable textiles.

We are seeking a thoughtful, organized and dependable volunteer Board Secretary to join our Board of Directors and help strengthen the governance of our growing charity.

The Board Secretary plays an important role in keeping the Board organized, informed and accountable. Working alongside the Executive Director and fellow directors, the Secretary will support Board meetings, maintain accurate governance records, and help ensure important decisions and documentation are properly recorded.

Key responsibilities may include:

• Preparing and circulating Board meeting agendas and supporting materials
• Recording clear and accurate meeting minutes
• Maintaining Board resolutions, policies and governance records
• Tracking action items and important Board decisions
• Supporting meeting scheduling and Board communications
• Helping maintain organized records of directors, terms and governance documents
• Supporting good governance practices as the organization continues to grow

Previous Board experience is welcome but not required. This role could be an excellent opportunity for a university student, recent graduate, early-career professional or community member interested in nonprofit governance, administration, law, public policy, business, communications or organizational leadership.

We are particularly looking for someone who is detail-oriented, dependable, comfortable with written communication, and interested in contributing to the growth of a Canadian charity.

This is a remote volunteer Board position with flexible scheduling.
