Unpaid Volunteer Position

The Black Business & Professional Network (BBPN) is currently expanding its Board of Directors and is seeking experienced professionals to serve as Board Officers across key functional areas.

This is a governance role involving strategic oversight, accountability, and contribution to the long-term sustainability of the organization. Board Officers will support leadership in strengthening systems, guiding program delivery, and ensuring compliance with nonprofit regulatory requirements.

We are specifically seeking individuals with expertise in the following areas:
1. Board Officer – Finance & Audit (CPA Preferred)

2. Board Officer – Legal & Compliance

3. Board Officer – IT & Digital Systems

4. Board Officer – HR & People Operations

5. Board Officer – Fundraising & Development

Responsibilities

Participate in board meetings and governance discussions
• Provide strategic input aligned with area of expertise
• Support organizational accountability and fiduciary oversight
• Contribute to policy development and decision-making
• Ensure alignment with nonprofit regulatory and governance standards
• Support long-term sustainability and growth of the organization

Qualifications

• Professional experience in one of the listed functional areas
• Understanding of governance, leadership, or nonprofit environments
• Ability to commit time consistently to meetings and board responsibilities
• Strong ethical standards, accountability, and collaborative mindset
• Previous board experience is an asset but not required

Time Commitment

• Monthly board meetings every two months - 1 hour
• Additional committee or advisory contributions as required
