About Us

The Canadian International Community Association (CICA) is a Canada-based, non-profit organization dedicated to fostering resilient and inclusive communities through humanitarian, development, and civic engagement initiatives. With active operations in fragile and conflict-affected contexts, CICA works at the intersection of humanitarian response, community development, youth leadership, and social inclusion, both in Canada and internationally.

Role Overview

CICA is seeking senior, experienced professionals to join its Board of Directors. Board Members play a critical governance and advisory role, supporting the organization’s strategic direction, accountability, and long-term sustainability.

This is an unpaid volunteer position. However, travel, training, and participation costs for approved board-related events, special sessions, and capacity-building activities may be covered in accordance with CICA policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in board meetings, committees, and strategic planning sessions
  • Provide strategic guidance, oversight, and high-level advisory support
  • Contribute to the development, review, and approval of organizational policies and frameworks
  • Support organizational growth, partnerships, and governance best practices
  • Act as an ambassador for CICA’s mission, values, and ethical standards
  • Engage with key stakeholders, donors, partners, and community actors as required

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Canadian citizenship is mandatory
  • Senior professional experience (minimum 8–10 years preferred)
  • Demonstrated international humanitarian or development experience (NGO, UN, donor-funded programs, or related sectors)
  • Strong understanding of governance, accountability, and risk management
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
  • Experience serving on a board or in senior management is a strong asset
  • Ability to commit time for meetings, reviews, and strategic engagement

Selection Process

  3. Final decision communicated within two weeks of the interview
