About Communities Connecting for Children (CCC)
CCC is a Canadian Registered Charity. We are committed to bringing the early life in Canada and nature appreciation of the outdoors in a unique learning experience. We have built Matheson Creek Camp to fill our needs. Our 70-acre facility has been developed for this purpose, and our mission is to give the opportunity to members of our community to live as closely as possible to history for a short time. We have six heritage sites with sleeping facilities, and a spirit garden ideal for outdoor learning as well as a school portable.
An Ideal Candidate
We are seeking individuals to join our board who bring both heart and expertise to the board table. The ideal candidate will have a love of Nature, Children, Canadian Heritage and life-long learning. A working knowledge in any of these categories would be helpful:
- Camping and Outdoor Living
- General Maintenance
- Love of Canadian history/culture
- Veteran, teacher, indigenous, professional, tradesperson
What you will do:
- Provide strategic leadership and governance to the organization
- Participate in board meetings and contribute to decision-making
- Collaborate with other board members, the camp committee and the executive team to achieve organizational goals
- Support fundraising and ensure the organization’s financial stability is compliant with regulations
- Participate in community outreach, bring educators, supporters and participants together
- Promote the camp when you have an opportunity
What we are looking for:
- President - Preside over board meetings, create agendas in collaboration with the CEO and Secretary, work closely with Directors/CEO to ensure smooth operations, assist in recruiting and orienting new board members, serve as a primary spokesperson for the organization as needed. Ensure strong fiduciary oversight and financial management, in partnership with the Treasurer.
- Secretary – assist and distribute agenda, keep track of what’s happening at our meetings, organize and distribute minutes and assist with communications. Keep the Minute Book up to date and the Motion Log completed regularly. Keep the Charity’s files in good order, both digital and paper.
- Director – Attend regular board meetings. `Contribute towards the organization’s mission through project planning, co-ordinating local events and educational opportunities in the community. Lead a designated Board Event from time to time, look for new possibilities and ideas to help the Charity financially, and assist in implementing.
