Freestyle Canada Seeking Candidates for
Board of Directors
Are you passionate about sport, passionate about skiing or, specifically, freestyle skiing? Do
you want to be involved with one of Canada’s leading winter Olympic National Sport
Organizations (NSO’s)? Would you like to contribute to the development of a thriving sport
system and help build a modern business in amateur sport? Then, please read on!
Freestyle Canada (FC) is seeking candidates for Three (3) Director-at-Large positions on the
Freestyle Canada Board of Directors (3 positions for a 3 year-term). We are seeking
nominees with strong knowledge and skills in the areas listed below. We are striving to
elect nominees from both small and large provinces/territories.
Freestyle Canada promotes gender equity and strives to achieve a minimum of 40% of
either gender on the Board of Directors. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the
time of the election and should not be bankrupt as per Canada Non-for-Profit corporations
act. Candidates must not currently work or hold a contract with Freestyle Canada and
cannot be a current President or Chairperson of a Provincial or Territorial Sport
Organization.
The Organization Freestyle Canada is where tradition meets innovation. We're a cool sport with deep roots in
the disciplined world of aerials and moguls, while also thriving in the creative, style-driven
energy of slopestyle, big air, and halfpipe. Our community is passionate - coaches, officials,
and staff who’ve been here for years because they truly love what we do. Now, we’re
building on that legacy and welcoming fresh perspectives to add to our athlete-centric
organization. We are looking for Board members to grow with us in this exciting Olympic
year.
FC is the NSO responsible for the stewardship of freestyle skiing across Canada and for
managing the Canadian Freestyle Ski Team. FC has one of the most successful and
advanced winter sport and athlete development systems in winter sport.
Governance FC is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of nine (9) elected directors. The Chief
Executive Officer (CEO) reports directly to the Board. The Board of Directors works as a
policy board and is responsible for managing the FC’s finances, the FC’s strategic plan and
oversight of the CEO.
The Board of Directors is a skill and knowledge-based Board.
The Opportunity During the FC Annual General Meeting on September 15, 2025, the Freestyle Canada
membership will elect three (3) Directors at Large to the Board of Directors for three-year terms ending in 2028. You are welcome to submit your name as a Candidate on or before August 5, 2025.
The Nominating Committee is generally seeking Candidates with knowledge and skills in
the following areas:
â Governance
â Sport Leadership
â Fundraising / Sponsorship
â Finance
â Strategic planning
More specifically, we are looking for HR including DEI (HR designation preferred), finance,
marketing and sponsorship to help us for the year 2025-2026.
