About A Way Home Canada

A Way Home Canada (AWHC) is a national coalition reimagining solutions to youth homelessness through transformations in policy, planning and practice.

We work with all orders of government, communities, services providers and philanthropy to create a policy, investment and service environment that enables a shift away from simply “managing” the problem of youth homelessness through emergency services to a more proactive, rights-based approach that focuses on prevention (stopping young people from becoming homeless in the first place) and helping those who are homeless move into housing with supports as rapidly as possible in a safe and planned way. Our collective work is evidence-driven and solutions-focused.

Why Join the Board of A Way Home Canada?

AWHC aims to expand its Board of Directors. As a member of this board, you will have the opportunity to utilize your full range of intellectual and professional capabilities to help make a difference in youth homelessness throughout this country. Exceptional board service enables you to bring your emotional connection to the work, your philanthropic dedication, your life experiences, your knowledge, skills, and sound judgment to the organization.

Board members are the fiduciaries who steer A Way Home Canada towards a sustainable future by adopting sound ethical and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure A Way Home Canada has adequate resources to advance its mission. Board members also contribute to the organization’s culture, strategic focus, effectiveness, and financial sustainability, as well as serving as ambassadors and advocates.

As a strategic governance Board, each director’s primary focus is to contribute to generative efforts that address youth homelessness. It provides board members with the opportunity to give back. It is an action-oriented Board and welcomes those wanting to actively support this cause through good governance, strategy and oversight.
