Unpaid Volunteer Position

Mission Statement: Enable life changing mentoring relationships to ignite the power and potential of young people. Vision Statement: All young people realize their full potential. Board Member (Volunteer) 2-year renewable term About Us Big Brothers Big Sisters of Centre Wellington (BBBSCW) works to enable life-changing mentoring relationships to ignite the power and potential of young people in our community. By recruiting dedicated and supportive volunteers, we help guide children and youth to a path of lifelong success and empowerment. The Opportunity BBBSCW is seeking applicants for our volunteer board of directors. Those with skills, interest, or experience in the governance of our non-profit agency are encouraged to apply for one of our open roles. This is a volunteer position, which provides an opportunity to make meaningful contributions that support the youth in your community, while connecting you to a network of likeminded individuals serving a common goal. The following roles are available; please indicate if you are applying for a specific position on our board of directors:

(1) Director at Large; (2) Secretary; and (3) Chair.

The board meets once a month, on the last Wednesday of each month, at the agency’s head office. All board meetings are in-person. In addition, each director is expected to sit on at least one additional monthly committee meeting (fund development, volunteer recruitment, etc.), which are typically conducted virtually. We ask that Board Members attend agency events and community events as ambassadors for the agency (approximately 2-3 events per year). The expected monthly commitment for board members at large is 6-10hrs, with greater commitments required for officer roles.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must be able to provide a clean police check
• Must be able to commit to two (2) year term
• Prior non-profit board experience is an asset
• Preference will be given to candidates with personal/professional experience that aligns with

the following: history of local community support; human resource training; strategic planning; youth development; business development.
