Board member - Treasurer

The Opportunity

Viola’s Place Society is seeking a dedicated and financially savvy volunteer to join our Board of Directors as Treasurer. This is a crucial leadership role responsible for providing oversight of the organization’s financial health, ensuring compliance with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regulations, and guiding our financial strategy to support our mission.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Oversight: Monitor the financial standing of the organization, ensuring accurate record-keeping, budgeting, and financial reporting as provided by Finance Manager.

• Financial Reporting: Provide oversight and assistance to Finance Manager and present regular financial reports at Board Meetings

• Internal Controls: Maintain and update internal financial policies as necessary

• Strategic Planning: Participate as a key member of the Board in strategic planning, budgeting, offering advice on f inancial viability and fundraising strategy. Qualifications

• Background in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping (CPA designation is an asset but not required). • Experience with financial reporting and budgeting.

• All Board of Director officers are elected annually and all Directors can serve a maximum of two, three-year periods before a one year break.
