Board Member Opportunity
For over 40 years, Pets and Friends has been providing the healing comfort and companionship of animals through its pet therapy program. The organization brings volunteer pet therapy teams (an owner/handler and their pet) to seniors, patients, people with disabilities, youth and more at senior facilities, hospitals, hospices, cancer treatment centres, and other similar settings. In addition, we participate in special events, providing one-time and irregularly patterned visits to outreach and community programs (i.e., healthcare staff, first responders) as well as corporate businesses. Recipients have a chance to pet, cuddle and spend time with furry friends, reaping the benfits of their unconditional love and acceptance.
Pets and Friends has made a commitment to growth, and to serve even more people in the Lower Mainland. We’re growing, and we’re looking for caring, skilled people to join our Board of Directors.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- Experience on a not-for-profit board
- Leadership/Management business experience
- Fundraising/networking skills or a background in finance
- And of course… a big heart for animals
What's involved?
- Helping guide our vision and strategy.
- Supporting fundraising and community partnerships.
- Attending regular board meetings (10 per year).
- Sharing your expertise to help us grow.
Why join?
Because, as you know, our volunteers and pets change lives — and you can help us bring that comfort and joy to even more people.
Note: If nominated to join our Board, your tenure would begin in January, 2026.
