About the Bach Elgar Choir

Founded in 1901, the Bach Elgar Choir is one of Hamilton’s most respected choral organizations. Known for artistic excellence and innovative programming, we enrich our community through choral music and cultural engagement.

Why Join the Board?

The Bach Elgar Choir is focused on sustainable growth—growing our choir, our audience, our Board, our partnerships, and our revenue—to support artistic excellence and long-term stability.

As a Board Member, you will play an active role in guiding and advancing these priorities. Our Board operates at a strategic governance level while also being engaged and hands-on, contributing time, expertise, and leadership to move key initiatives forward.

By joining the Board, you will help to:

  • Grow our choir through artistic vitality, member engagement, and a healthy organizational culture
  • Grow our audience through marketing, communications, and outreach initiatives
  • Grow our Board by strengthening governance practices, leadership development, and succession planning
  • Grow our partnerships with community organizations, sponsors, funders, and cultural partners
  • Grow our revenue by supporting fundraising strategy, donor engagement, and long-term sustainability

Serving on the Board is a meaningful opportunity to apply your professional skills, collaborate with a committed leadership team, and make a tangible impact on Hamilton’s cultural life.
