BOARD OF DIRECTORS SEEKS NEW DIRECTORS

The Alzheimer Society of Toronto ("AST") invites submissions from individuals interested in being considered for the position of Director on the volunteer Board of Directors.

OUR VISION We envision a Toronto where every person impacted by dementia lives with dignity, purpose and connection.

The Alzheimer Society of Toronto has a rich history of supporting people living with dementia, their families, and caregivers by offering information, education, and a wide variety of programs. AST works to increase public awareness of dementia, to promote research, and to advocate for services that respect the dignity of the individual. Revenue is received through a variety of sources including special events, corporate donations, foundation grants, planned giving/ bequests, individual donations and government grants for specific program initiatives.

The Board of Directors of Alzheimer Society of Toronto is a governance board that works to ensure that AST’s mission is appropriate, relevant, and important to the community it serves. The major functions of the AST Board include:

• Approve the Strategic Plan and set the strategic direction of the organization
• Ensure efficient and effective use of resources
• Provide oversight to the CEO to ensure the society fulfils its mission
• Support AST fundraising efforts

Directors serve for a three-year term. There is a maximum of three terms.

Commitment:

• Attend Board meetings (6 per meetings per year from September – June)
• Contribute as a member on one of the 3 Board Sub-Committees
• Support community outreach and/or fundraising activities and attend signature AST events

We encourage submissions from individuals with culturally diverse backgrounds who have knowledge of the community we serve, especially from Scarborough. Fundraising experience is considered a valuable asset, which is only one of many strengths that can enhance our work. We welcome applicants with diverse skill-sets to add value and perspective to the execution of the strategic objectives of the organization.

If you are interested in making a difference in the lives of people living with dementia, we encourage you to reach out to us.
