The Community Development Halton Board of Directors is welcoming applications from individuals interested in serving as volunteer board members.

Community Development Halton (CDH) is seeking civically engaged individuals; persons who have meaningful connection in community and are aligned with the organizations' commitment to social justice, volunteerism and community well-being. This is an opportunity to bring your skills to supporting a movement for change in Halton.

The CDH Board strives to reflect the strengths and diversity of the Halton community and encourages applications from individuals who bring a variety of skills, perspectives, and lived experiences.

To be eligible, applicants must live or work in the Halton Region, which includes the municipalities of Burlington, Oakville, Milton, and Halton Hills.

Skills and experiences in the following areas are considered assets:

-Marketing and communications

-CPA or CFA designation or an accounting/financial background

-Nonprofit sector experience (staff or governance)

-Fundraising

-Legal expertise or knowledge of the Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (ONCA)

-Community or citizen engagement

Directors serve a two-year term, with the option to renew. The Board meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm, primarily on ZOOM, with occasional in-person meetings. Directors are encouraged to contribute to ad hoc committees. The average commitment is approximately 5-8 hours per month. Newly appointed board members will attend a mandatory virtual orientation session in July and begin their two-year term in September 2026.

About Community Development Halton Through research, community development, planning and promoting volunteerism, CDH strives to improve the quality of life for all residents of Halton. CDH is an independent organization focused on supporting the over 1000+ nonprofit and voluntary sector organizations in Halton. We do this by engaging with our community to address issues and ensure their voices are heard by local decision-makers, policy developers, and governments. Connecting community is what we do.
