SEEKING EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST: BOARD MEMBER

ConnexOntario’s vision is a province where all people in Ontario, Canada are connected to mental health and addictions support where, when, and how they need it.

Funded by Ontario Health, ConnexOntario provides free and confidential health services information for people struggling with substance use, mental health, or problem gambling concerns. We provide support 24/7/365 through phone, text (SMS), web chat, and email by connecting Ontarians to resources in their community or across the province. Knowledgeable and experienced staff offer supportive listening and enhanced supports to help people find the resources they need from our extensive database. Whether the caller is seeking help for themselves or a loved one, ConnexOntario is here to provide the right information at the right time.

ConnexOntario’s, innovative youth mental health program mindyourmind seeks to increase the capacity of young people to reach out, get help, and give help through the use of technology, engagement, and research-informed innovation.

ConnexOntario’s Board of Directors comprises non-profit healthcare sector leaders and others with an interest in mental health and/or addictions. At this time, we are welcoming applications from individuals who provide representation from Northwestern Ontario and from those with demonstrated business and financial acumen, including experience in strategic growth and service diversification. Board members will represent ConnexOntario to their respective communities/sectors and advocate for our mission, programs, and services as appropriate.

Meetings occur virtually approximately bi-monthly with an in-person Annual General Meeting taking place each September in London, Ontario. Total time commitment is approximately 24-36 hours over the year. Board members are expected to serve on one or more committees of the board and to actively participate in committee work. Member terms last two years and members may serve for up to three consecutive terms.

Applicants should reside within the province of Ontario, and your location must be disclosed.

We acknowledge that the ConnexOntario main office is located on the traditional lands of the Anishinabek, Haudenosaunee, Lunaapeewak, and Attawandaron peoples, on lands connected with the London Township and Sombra Treaties of 1796 and the Dish with One Spoon Covenant Wampum.

With this, we respect the longstanding relationships that Indigenous Peoples have to this land, as they are the original caretakers. We acknowledge historical and ongoing injustices that all Indigenous Peoples - First Nations, Métis, and Inuit - have endured in this land we now call Canada. We accept responsibility as a public institution to contribute toward revealing and correcting miseducation, as well as renewing respectful relationships with Indigenous communities through the services we offer to everyone in Ontario.
