Unpaid Volunteer Position

Summary:

The Georgina Community Food Pantry (GCFP) is seeking Board Members who are passionate about

our mission, which is to provide dignified access to good food that nourishes our community and

inspires change.

We are looking for diverse community leaders with expertise in the following areas: board

governance, policy, and human resources. Knowledge and proficicency in communications/social

media, including graphic design, would be an assest. Previous board experience and knowledge of food

insecurity are preferred.

The commitment:

Board members are expected to:

• Attend Board meetings which are usually held on the third Wednesday of each month, from

6:00pm to 8 pm. Meetings held in virtual format during the fall/winter months and in person in

spring/summer.

• Participate in Board Committee and/or project work

• Attend annual events such as the AGM, strategic planning sessions and provide support at

fundraising events

• In total, directors are expected to devote approximately ten hours per month of their time.

• Candidates must be willing to serve a 3-year term

• Willingness to actively participate in Board projects and committees

• Commitment of time to prepare and attend board and committee meetings
