What is the purpose of the Board of Directors?

The Board is legally responsible for the governance of Dementia Justice Canada, a small federally incorporated nonprofit organization. Its current sole founding director is Heather Campbell Pope.

What does the Board do?
The Board is responsible for the overall direction of the nonprofit. A primary role of the Board is to oversee the organization's finances. The Board also provides strategic focus, and its members serve as advocates for the organization and its mission. The Board can delegate day-to-day operations to an executive director.

What is the time commitment?
The Board is expected to meet monthly from September to June. The inaugural Board's first meeting is anticipated to be held in early 2026. Given the pan-Canadian nature of the organization, these meetings will be held virtually or by phone. The Board may establish committees, which will meet separately.
