The MIND Program is seeking passionate people to direct its work in creating healthy and vibrant communities in Toronto ON where people are invested, involved, safe and connected to each other. We are seeking a new board member to help lead our work addressing food insecurity which now affects 25% of Torontonians.

Job Description – Board Member
The Board of Directors is the highest leadership body of the MIND Program. It is accountable for the MIND Program’s performance in meeting its mission and goals, and meeting its ethical and legal obligations to the community.
Individual board members are elected by the MIND Program’s membership at the annual general meeting for a two-year term which is renewable.
Duties of board members
- act in the best long-term interests of the MIND Program
- prepare for and participate constructively in board meetings
- help establish, monitor, and support operational policies
- approve and monitor the MIND Program’s programs and services
- monitor and ensure the financial health of the MIND Program
- support and abide by board decisions once made
- advocate for the MIND Program in the wider community, with partners, and with donors
- serve without remuneration, but may be reimbursed for reasonable expenses
- avoid any personal or financial conflicts of interest
- maintain confidentiality about internal and personnel matters
Time commitment – average of 3 hours per month for preparation and attending monthly board meetings which are currently held virtually on Zoom.
Qualifications – experience in fund-raising, legal affairs, or human resource management would be an asset
