The Canadian Medical Foundation is seeking dedicated, values‑driven volunteers to join our Board of Directors. We are a national charitable foundation that has been advancing the health of people in Canada through philanthropy, partnerships, and program innovation for 38 years. CMF convenes stakeholders across sectors, mobilizes resources, and supports programs that improve access, equity, and outcomes.

Our desired impact is a mobilized strategy that promotes philanthropy, partnership, and evidence-based initiatives that will allow for a representative and inclusive process for aspiring health professionals.

Skills

To strengthen our leadership capacity, we are recruiting individuals who are:

· Active or retired Canadian healthcare professionals

· Medical residents

· Internationally educated health professionals

· Individuals with legal, fundraising, board governance and nonprofit leadership experience

Previous Board experience is not necessary as new Directors will be given support and training.

About the Role

This is a working board, and members actively contribute their time, expertise, and lived or professional experience.

Directors attend 4 board meetings per year, plus are expected to sit on a Committee (Finance, Governance, Programs) which will meet up to 4 times per year.

Directors are expected to read all Board papers in advance of meetings and come prepared to contribute. In addition, Directors may receive requests for information or decisions between meetings and are expected to respond in a timely manner.

Becoming a CMF Director will provide you with the opportunity to use your professional skills and life experiences to make a demonstrable impact on both the organization and our IEHP Programming, thus improving the health of Canadians.
