EnviroCentre is an Ottawa-based environmental not-for-profit that supports residents, enterprises, and communities to find practical ways to reduce their environmental impact in ways that benefit our communities. Our four key impact areas are Home Energy Efficiency, Sustainable Transportation, Waste and Circular Economy, and Green Infrastructure. We have been working for over twenty-five years to promote practical climate action and awareness in our local communities and Eastern Ontario, and we are one of the leading agencies in environmental action.

The Board of Directors
EnviroCentre’s volunteer Board of Directors provides governance and oversight to the organization, contributing to business planning, organizational strategy, policy and compliance, financial stewardship, legal and ethical integrity and overall accountability. A board member can expect to participate in quarterly board meetings, as well as some committee work. Regular board duties will generally include review of quarterly financial statements and progress reports, development and/or review of policy and governance documents, risk analysis, review and approval of major contracts, Executive Director performance management and/or recruitment, board performance evaluation, and contribution to strategic planning processes, in collaboration with management. Board members are also invited to participate in community events and training opportunities.
As a board director for EnviroCentre, you join an energetic, engaged team who are committed to climate action, equity, and a future vision for Canada that catalyzes forward-thinking leadership and action. It is also a fun, supportive, and social group. As a board director, you will have the opportunity to contribute to and shape some of the highest impact climate action projects in the region and beyond. You will be joining an inspirational and creative group of people who want to bring their background and expertise to make a meaning and positive change to the environment.
The Board has a maximum of twelve (12) volunteer director positions, and we are specifically seeking one candidate who is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) to replace the current Board Treasurer. Board members serve for a 3-year term.

We’re Seeking
EnviroCentre is seeking a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) to take on the Board Treasurer role. The Treasurer plays a key leadership role on the Board, providing fiduciary oversight to ensure EnviroCentre’s financial health and compliance, and supporting strong governance practices. Working closely with the Executive Director and Director of Finance, the Treasurer helps guide financial strategy, monitors organizational performance, and ensures appropriate financial risk management and accountability. The Treasurer also acts as the Chair of the Finance Committee.
Required Qualification:
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA)
Asset Experience:
- Strategic planning and organizational performance
- Strategic risk management
- Experience with not-for-profit boards or in organizational governance and management
- Equity, diversity, inclusion, and Indigenization work
- Sector experience in one or more of EnviroCentre’s focus areas
