Join the Board of Directors of the Ontario Family Caregivers' Advisory Network (OFCAN)
The Ontario Family Caregivers' Advisory Network (OFCAN) is a provincial registered charity that connects family caregiver advisory councils, family-led organizations, and caregiver leaders working in mental illness and substance use disorders across Ontario.
Through collaboration and shared learning, OFCAN works to strengthen family caregiver engagement in care, policy, and system improvement. Our goal is to ensure that family caregiver voices are recognized, valued, and meaningfully included throughout Ontario's mental health and addiction system.
We Are Seeking New Board Members
OFCAN is looking for passionate and committed individuals to join our Board of Directors. This is an opportunity to help shape a stronger, more responsive mental health and addiction system while supporting family caregivers across the province.
As a Board Member, you will:
• Help advance OFCAN's mission, vision, and strategic priorities.
• Use your skills, experience, and networks to strengthen OFCAN's impact and sustainability.
• Support efforts that promote meaningful family caregiver engagement.
• Collaborate with board members and network partners to influence system improvement.
• Commit approximately 6–8 hours per month.
• Participate in regular virtual board meetings.
Who Should Apply?
We strongly encourage applications from individuals with lived experience as family caregivers supporting a loved one with mental illness and/or substance use disorders.
We welcome applicants from across Ontario and are committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable Board that reflects the communities we serve.
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in family advisory councils and caregiver leadership, as well as expertise in one or more of the following areas:
• Accounting and Finance
• Website Development and Technology
• Fundraising and Grant Writing
• Communications and Marketing
• Governance and Strategic Planning
Board experience is welcome but not required. We value lived experience, leadership potential, and a commitment to improving mental health and addiction services for families and caregivers.
