The Canadian Vocational Association (CVA) is seeking a volunteer Board member with financial expertise.
About the CVA
The CVA is a non-profit organization whose fundamental goal is to build bridges between the world of employment and the world of education and training. We work nationally and internationally with governments, employers, and training providers to improve occupational and organizational competence.
Our primary contribution is delivering training, coaching, and certification in the DACUM model—a Canadian-developed, practical, and cost-effective method used to conduct occupational analyses and build competency-based training and HR programs across all sectors.
About the Role
We are seeking a new volunteer Board member with finance or accounting experience to help steward our organization’s financial health and contribute to its strategic direction. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting financial oversight, budgeting, and audit processes
- Advising on financial risk and sustainability
- Contributing to strategic planning and governance discussions
- Serving as a key voice in shaping CVA’s long-term impact
Qualifications
- Professional experience in finance, accounting, or a related field (CPA an asset)
- Previous non-profit or governance experience is helpful but not required
- A commitment to the values of competency-based, lifelong learning, workforce development, and international collaboration
- Willingness to contribute time and expertise in a volunteer capacity
- Fluency in French is an asset
