
Board of Directors - Director at Large
Are you a person who likes to think outside the box, ask questions, build relationships, and build a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive? As a director at the Centre for Family Literacy (CFL), you will be adding your experience, perspective, and connections to support the Centre in achieving our vision through our Community Impact Plan.
We are currently looking for multiple Directors at Large and one Director with accounting experience who will grow into the Treasurer role on the Board. Board members are elected for one- or two-year terms at our AGM in June. Our board is a governance board model with working committees.
Board meetings are held in person in Edmonton or online. The board is willing to consider candidates living outside of Edmonton and surrounding areas.
Responsibilities:
- Attend board meetings every other month.
- Become a member of one of the board’s working committees.
- Be an ambassador for the Centre for Family Literacy in the community.
- Use your expertise, networks, and connections to support organizational initiatives (e.g. fundraising, events, campaigns, raising awareness, etc).
Time Commitment:
- Approximately 8-10 hours per month
- Board meetings - 6 per year (2 hours each)
- Monthly committee meetings (1-2 hours each)
- Committee tasks - timing will vary depending on the tasks
- Planning day - one full day approximately once a year if needed, usually a Saturday
