Board Directors

The Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society (WRS) is a long-standing and vital member of the local non-profit sector, providing essential services to individuals and families experiencing vulnerability due to low or no income. While many programs are designed to support women and address the systemic barriers they face, the majority of WRS services are inclusive and accessible to people of all genders. Men regularly access critical supports such as the Outreach Store and the Community Law program.

WRS delivers a comprehensive continuum of services, including a food bank, family and poverty law assistance, transition housing for women and children fleeing domestic violence, health services, and a range of wraparound supports that respond to complex and evolving community needs.

In 2025 alone, thousands of individuals accessed programs and services through the Women’s Resource Society. For many, WRS represents a last point of access to safety, stability, and advocacy. The organization is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where individuals can access timely assistance, rebuild stability, and move toward improved well-being.

After an extensive strategic planning cycle, we are looking towards the future with optimism and want to strengthen our Board of Directors.

Applicants do not need to reside in Fort St. John, but an understanding of the specific challenges of a non-profit working in a rural Northern BC community is required. Directors should be able to dedicate 10 hours of their time monthly to the organization. Lived experience is an asset, as well as experience in legal, finance and fundraising. If you are a team player with leadership skills and a high level of accountability, you might just be the right fit!
