Mariposa Ecological Initiative is a new organization committed to fostering sustainable ecological practices and community engagement. Our mission is to create a positive impact on the environment through collaboration and innovative solutions that protect biodiversity and their habitats by working with local and municipal partners. We aim to connect people to nature through community science projects within the Lake Couchiching region, whether it’s building a native perennial garden for pollinators, advocating for better policy or helping educate the public on various topics.

What you will do

• Provide strategic leadership and governance to the organization.
• Participate in board meetings and contribute to decision-making processes.
• Support fundraising efforts and community outreach programs.
• Ensure the organization’s financial stability and compliance with regulations.
• Collaborate with other board members and the executive team to achieve organizational goals.

What we are looking for

• Treasurer - help maintain financial records, conduct banking transactions and assist in grant applications
• Secretary - keeping track of what's happening at our meetings, organize minutes & meeting agendas and assist with communications
• Director - contribute towards the organization's mission through project planning, coordinating local events and educational opportunities in the community
