About Villa Cathay Care Home Society Located in Vancouver’s historic Strathcona neighborhood, Villa Cathay is a long-term care home dedicated to the Chinese Canadian community. Since 1978, we’ve provided seniors with compassionate, culturally sensitive care in a home-like setting. Today, we serve 173 residents in a modern facility that honors language, traditions, and dignity.

About the Role As a volunteer Board Member, you’ll help guide the strategic direction of Villa Cathay, supporting our mission through leadership in governance, policy, budgeting, and advocacy. You may also participate in fundraising, communications, stakeholder engagement and recruitment initiatives.

Time Commitment
• Board meets monthly (in person or virtually)
• Occasional committee/task work (avg. 3 hours/month)

Preferred Qualifications We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, especially those with:

• Experience in non-profit, health, or public sectors leadership
• Interest in seniors issues, long-term care
• Skills in governance, financial oversight, fundraising, or communications
• Commitment to cultural inclusion and community service

In addition, we welcome candidates who are:

• Strategic thinkers with a collaborative mindset
• Aligned with the mission and values of Villa Cathay
• Willing to leverage networks in support of Villa Cathay’s goals

Eligibility Must be 18+, a BC resident, with a clear criminal record.
