About RESOUND Choir: RESOUND Choir is an auditioned mixed-voice community choir that seeks the highest quality of performance in contemporary and traditional choral repertoire. Located just east of Toronto, the choir seeks out opportunities to make meaningful contributions in our region – providing choral workshops and performance opportunities for singers, hiring early-career instrumentalists, soloists and conductors, premiering the works of Canadian composers, partnering with front-line community service organizations, and collaborating with various performing arts organizations and individuals including dancers, visual artists and youth groups in the region.

About the Opportunity: RESOUND Choir Board of Directors is seeking new Directors who are accomplished in their fields and will be enthusiastic ambassadors for the organization, overseeing its goals. Board members will govern the organization and provide operational oversight. A passion for music helps too !

Who are we looking for?

Individuals with experience in any of the following areas are encouraged to apply:

  • Finance/Accounting (banking and accounting)
  • Fundraising Development (any/all the following considered assets: major gifts, capital campaigns, corporate sponsorship, legacy giving, grants)
  • Human resources
  • Information technology
  • Law/Legal background (preferably with not-for-profit/charitable sector expertise)
  • Marketing and Social Media
  • Volunteer Management

RESOUND Choir values diversity, equity and inclusion and sees these as essential in effectively managing the operations.

Commitment As a Board member, you will participate in regular Board meetings, usually held over ZOOM (8 per year) and promote RESOUND Choir within your community, including developing relationships with key stakeholders. Participation in committees of the Board (Governance & Nominations, Fundraising) is also an expectation. A time commitment of 3-5 hours per month is required.

Additional Information:

Nominating Process

● The Governance/Nominating Committee reviews all applications

● Candidates meeting current Board requirements will be interviewed by representatives of the Governance & Nominations Committee before the end of November

● Top candidates will be submitted to the Board of Directors for approval prior to the AGM

● New Directors are elected to the Board at the Annual General Meeting each November and/or June
