About Community Services of Belleville and District
Community Services of Belleville and District (CSBD) is a multi-service, not for profit organization that provides assessment, advocacy, and coordinated support to individuals, children, and families across Belleville and surrounding area. Through programs such as adult protective services, autism and developmental supports, family court services, supervised access, and community support programs, CSBD responds to both every day and complex needs using evidence based and clinical interventions to strengthen family wellbeing and enhance individual and family stability.
The Board of Directors Responsibilities:
- Determining the mission and purpose of the organization.
- Overseeing the selection and performance of the Executive Director.
- Ensuring the strategic planning process is thorough and complete, as well as the oversight of its implementation by Management.
- Ensuring strong fiduciary oversight, risk mitigation, financial management and growth strategies,
- Enhancing CSBD’s public image,
- Assessing the Boards own performance as the governing body of CSBD,
- Serve as an active advocate and ambassador for the organization and fully engage in identifying and securing financial resources and partnerships necessary for CSBD to advance its mission.
- Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in person at board meetings.
- Participate fully in one or more committees.

Qualifications:
We value lived experience that reflects the realities of the individuals, children, and families served by CSBD. This may include personal or family experience navigating child welfare, developmental and autism services, mental health supports, family court or supervised access systems, disability services, caregiving roles, poverty or housing insecurity, rural or under resourced communities, or other complex social systems. Lived experience brings critical insight, empathy, and perspective that strengthens our programs, informs responsive service delivery, and supports meaningful engagement with the communities we serve.

Time Commitment:
Attend regular board meetings (approximately 10 per year) in-person and virtual. The Board typically meets monthly from 12:00pm – 1:30pm. In person meetings will be held in Belleville.
- One years' notice of meetings is provided to the Board of Directors.
- Board members must commit to a one (1) year renewable term, for a maximum of six consecutive years.
- Attend the Annual General Meeting in person.
- Optional and appreciated participation in volunteer, donor and public events.
