Are you passionate about housing justice and ready to shape the future of affordable housing in Ontario? SmartLiving Housing Society is seeking founding volunteer Board Directors to join our mission to deliver deeply affordable, sustainable housing powered by CMHC-funded programs.
About Us
SmartLiving is a CMHC-aligned nonprofit dedicated to scaling affordable housing through public funding, mission-driven partnerships, and innovative governance models. We aim to deliver 100+ homes through preservation and new builds—serving low-income families, seniors, newcomers, and people facing housing insecurity.
Your Role
As a Board Director, you will:

Participate in monthly virtual board meetings (1–2 hours/month)

Shape the strategic direction of SmartLiving

Support incorporation, charitable registration, and governance setup

Engage in funding, partnerships, and public advocacy efforts

Promote housing equity through your network or lived experience
What We're Looking For
We welcome a wide range of experiences, especially:

Housing, real estate, planning or community development

Nonprofit, legal, finance, governance or operations

Public policy, fundraising, or government relations

Grassroots advocacy or lived experience with housing challenges
No prior board experience is required—just vision, commitment, and heart.

Location:
