Everywoman’s Health Centre (EWHC) is a nonâprofit charity committed to reproductive justice, access, and autonomy. EWHC operates an abortion and sexual health clinic providing excellent care in a supportive, safe, and confidential setting.
Through its longâstanding partnership with Vancouver Coastal Health, EWHC is embarking on the development of a new clinic and an expanded scope of services to meet the needs of diverse communities across the Lower Mainland.
We are inviting new Board Directors to help steward the organization through its next chapter.

WHAT BOARD MEMBERS DO
Board members provide governanceâlevel oversight and strategic direction; steward EWHC’s mission and values; contribute to equityâinformed decisionâmaking; and act collectively in the best interests of the organization.
WHO WE’RE SEEKING
We are seeking board members who live the organization’s purpose and can help steward EWHC’s mission in a rapidly changing environment.
We welcome applications from candidates with communityârooted strategic and governance experience particularly from individuals with legal, finance or healthcare experience. Professional credentials and experience in the areas of law, accounting, risk management, fundraising, government relations and community advocacy would be ideal. We are also seeking candidates who have experience navigating and managing change and people dynamics, and working across knowledge experts to bring everyone together to achieve a common purpose.
TIME COMMITMENT
EWHC Board members are partâtime volunteers. But they play a vital role in stewarding the organization. The Board meets once a month – inâperson or online. Board members are expected to be prepared, attend the majority of board meetings and be active participants. Board members are also expected to participate in one or more Committees. Although time commitment will vary through the year, Board members should be willing to contribute an average of 8â10 hours per month to EWHC.

ORGANIZATIONAL PROFILE
EWHC is a nonâprofit society and registered charity that provides abortion and reproductive health services. The organization receives its base funding from the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority. The facility is accredited by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC and the National Abortion Federation. EWHC employs approximately 40 staff and contractors, and the clinic has a unionized workforce. It is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.
EWHC has always worked on a model of service which empowers patients to participate in their own health care. The organization adheres to the principles of responsibility, accountability, inclusivity, and teamwork in its internal organizational structure. The interdisciplinary care team includes physicians, nurses, counsellors, and support staff. They offer the following services:
• Aspiration abortion to the end of the 13th week of pregnancy using local anaesthesia and conscious sedation
• Medical abortion (abortion pill) up to 9 weeks 6 days from the first day of the last period
• Miscarriage management to the end of the 13th week of pregnancy
• IUD insertions, followâup checks, and removals
• Prescriptions for birth control pills and other methods of contraception
• Pregnancy decisionâmaking counselling
• Postâabortion counselling
• Referral for abortion services after the 13th week of pregnancy
• Pap smear tests (cervical cancer screening) and HPV vaccine information
• Birth control counselling and prescriptions for methods like birth control pills
• Sexually transmitted infection (STI) tests, including HIV and syphilis blood tests
