Who We Are?
St. Felix Centre is a non-profit community centre in downtown Toronto founded by the Felician Sisters. We serve a wide range of clients and guests, including adults, seniors, recent immigrants, and those who are experiencing poverty, homelessness and home insecurity, poverty, food insecurity, trauma, mental illness, and addictions. We’re even pet-friendly!
Mission
St. Felix Centre is a compassionate, faith-inspired community for marginalized individuals in downtown Toronto where all are welcome and served with dignity in the Felician-Franciscan tradition.

What We Do
We serve some of the most marginalized members of our community. We recognize the dignity and value of every person and provide a safe and respectful environment for all who visit. People of all religions, genders, cultures, and abilities are welcomed with open arms. By supporting the emotional, social, cultural, economic, and spiritual needs of individuals, we strengthen the entire community and its evolving needs. Our programs and services include:
- Hope House – a 31-unit permanent supportive housing development for women
- 24-Hour Respite Services
- Community Drop-In Program
- Community Meals Program
- Case Management Services
- St. Felix House (Transitional Home for Women)
- P.A.W.S. (Pets: Accessing Wellness Supports)
We are Seeking
Volunteer Board Members to help guide our mission and strengthen our impact. As a board member, you will contribute to governance, provide strategic insight, and act as an ambassador for St. Felix Centre. You will bring your skills and experience. Board members typically serve a three-year term and may be re-elected for two additional consecutive three-year terms.
While all applicants with a passion for our mission are encouraged to apply, we are currently looking for individuals who bring contributions in one or more areas:
- Fundraising/Donor Relations
- Community Services/ Social Impact
- Diversity and Representation (Lived experience, age, culture, etc.)
- Sector experience related to our Mission
- Legal expertise (especially in residential tenancy, Landlord and Tenant, municipal laws)
- Finance expertise
- Community Relations/Advocacy
Expectations & Responsibilities
- Commit to and publicly support our mission, services, and community impact
- Actively support and participate in the governance process – attending up to 6 board meetings per year, in addition to project or community-related meetings, and a Board retreat
- Join a Committee or Major Project at some point in your tenure
- Review and prepare for board discussions with financial and strategic documents in advance
- Act as an ambassador and resource and support initiatives that expand our impact and partnerships
- Board members are also expected to make St. Felix Centre one of their philanthropic priorities both through a personal financial donation that is meaningful to them and by helping to open doors to new supporters, donors, or partnerships
