
Board Director Renascent Fellowship & Renascent Foundation
For over 55 years, Renascent has helped individuals and families in Ontario find recovery from addiction. As one of the province's largest and longest-standing community addiction treatment providers, we offer life-saving live-in and virtual outpatient programs guided by our values of Compassion, Community, Collaboration, and Lived Experience.
This is a meaningful moment to join our Board. With our 2025–2028 Strategic Plan underway and demand for addiction and mental health services continuing to grow, Renascent is expanding its reach, and we're looking for directors who want to help shape that future.
What You'll Be Part Of
As a Board Director, you will work alongside a committed group of professionals and community members to provide governance oversight to a dynamic, growing organization. Board members are stewards of Renascent's mission and bring their full expertise to decisions that directly affect the lives of people living with addiction across Ontario and beyond.
What to expect:
- Time commitment: Approximately 5 - 7 hours per month, including quarterly Board meetings and committee work.
- Term length: Three-year terms, renewable.
- Meeting format: Mostly virtual (with some in-person opportunities).
- Board Committees: Audit & Finance, Governance, Client, Programs & Quality, and Fundraising & Business Development, Property.
- Board Orientation & Education: Structured orientation and ongoing director education.

Who We're Looking For
We are actively seeking directors with expertise in the following areas. For each, we've noted why it matters to Renascent right now:
- Philanthropy & Fundraising: Renascent Foundation is deepening its individual and major gifts program. We're looking for directors who can help shape and champion our philanthropic strategy.
- Government Relations & Advocacy: As Ontario's addiction treatment landscape evolves, we are seeking directors who understand how to engage government stakeholders and advance policy that benefits those we serve.
- Information Technology & Cybersecurity: With expanding virtual programs and sensitive client data, technology governance is a priority. IT leaders who understand not- for-profit digital risk and opportunity are especially welcome.
- Lived Experience in Recovery: Our values centre around lived experience as a source of wisdom. Renascent alumni and individuals in 12-step recovery bring essential insight to how we design, govern, and talk about our programs.
- Knowledge of Priority Populations: We are committed to culturally responsive care. Directors who represent or have knowledge of racialized communities, Indigenous peoples, 2SLGBTQ+ individuals, low-income families, and those experiencing housing insecurity help us remain accountable to the people we serve.
About Renascent
Renascent is comprised of two not-for-profit organizations, Renascent Fellowship and Renascent Foundation. Renascent Fellowship is one of Ontario’s largest and longest- standing community addiction treatment providers, serving individuals and their loved ones by providing life-saving live-in and virtual/outpatient treatment programs. Renascent Foundation is dedicated to raising funds and resources in support of the programs delivered by Renascent Fellowship and engages in social enterprise to support and facilitate addiction treatment and prevention. Acting jointly, Renascent Fellowship and Renascent Foundation are committed to a Vision of ensuring all individuals, families and loved ones impacted by addiction will have timely access to comprehensive, person-centred and evidence-based treatment.
