This role is critical to the financial sustainability of Sheena's Place, focused on expanding and diversifying the organization's revenue streams, particularly through major donor cultivation and a strategic approach to philanthropy.


General Director Responsibilities
Fiduciary Duty: Act in the best interests of Sheena’s Place, ensuring financial accountability, legal compliance (including ONCA By-laws), and ethical conduct.
Strategic Oversight: Monitor the organization's progress toward achieving its revenue targets (e.g., Fundraised Revenue goals from the Strategic Plan) and ensure alignment between fundraising efforts and the mission.
Governance: Actively participate in Board and committee meetings, preparing thoroughly and engaging in frank, open discussion.
Ambassadorship: Serve as an enthusiastic and credible spokesperson for the organization's mission and programs within the community and among prospective donors.


Specific Responsibilities (Donor Fundraising Focus)
1. Fundraising Strategy: Provide strategic guidance to the Executive Director and staff on the overall development and implementation of the annual and long-term fundraising strategy.
2. Donor Cultivation: Actively identify, cultivate, and solicit major donors from the Director's personal and professional networks, leading by example with personal philanthropy.
3. Revenue Diversification: Advise on best practices for grants, foundation relations, corporate sponsorships, and capital campaigns to ensure the long-term financial health of the organization.
4. Committee Leadership: Potential to serve on or lead a Development/Fundraising Committee, providing hands-on expertise and accountability for fundraising goals.
5. Financial Oversight: Work closely with the Treasurer and Finance Committee to ensure fundraising reports are accurate and integrated into the overall financial planning process.


Qualifications and Experience
● Professional Expertise: Minimum 5-7 years of senior experience in Fundraising, Philanthropic Development, Sales/Business Development, or a related field with a proven track record of securing significant gifts.
Specific Skills: Expertise in major gift solicitation, donor stewardship, capital campaigns, and leveraging personal networks for NPO benefit.
Financial Literacy: Strong understanding of non-profit finance, budgeting, and the role of fundraised revenue in organizational operations.
Attributes: Highly visible, well-connected within the community, persuasive communicator, and passionately committed to the mission of Sheena's Place.
