The Centre for ADHD Awareness, Canada (CADDAC) is a national charity providing leadership in awareness, education, and advocacy for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) across Canada. CADDAC works to improve the lives of individuals with ADHD and their families by promoting evidence-based information, supporting informed policy, and strengthening understanding of ADHD across health, education, and community systems.
As CADDAC continues to grow its national reach and impact, we are seeking values-driven leaders to help guide the organization through its next phase of development.
About the Opportunity
CADDAC is seeking multiple volunteer Board Directors under a single call. We are looking for individuals who bring strong governance capability and subject-matter expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Advocacy & Government Relations
- Strategic Communications, Marketing, and Public Relations
- Technology & Digital Strategy
- Legal (Human Resources, Governance, Charity)
- Medical / Clinical (including mental health and ADHD-related expertise)
Board Directors collectively provide governance oversight, strategic direction, fiduciary stewardship, and leadership in fundraising and advocacy. While Directors may contribute deep expertise in one or more domains, all Directors share responsibility for advancing CADDAC’s mission, supporting fundraising efforts, and serving as ambassadors for the organization.
This is a volunteer role and an opportunity to make a meaningful, national-level impact for the ADHD community.
Core Responsibilities of All Directors
All CADDAC Board Directors are expected to:
- Provide Governance and Strategic Oversight: Contribute to setting and overseeing CADDAC’s strategic direction, ensuring alignment with its mission, values, and longterm sustainability.
- Fulfill Fiduciary Duties: Uphold fiduciary and legal responsibilities, including reviewing and approving budgets, financial statements, and key policies, and overseeing risk management and compliance.
- Support Fundraising and Resource Development: Play an active role in fundraising by supporting development strategies, cultivating relationships, leveraging networks, and championing CADDAC with donors, partners, and supporters.
- Advance Advocacy and Ambassadorship: Act as ambassadors for CADDAC, promoting ADHD awareness, reducing stigma, and supporting advocacy efforts with stakeholders, policymakers, and the broader community.
- Participate Fully in Board Life: Attend Board meetings, serve on committees as appropriate, prepare in advance, contribute thoughtfully to discussions, and support effective Board governance.
Areas of Desired Expertise
CADDAC is particularly interested in candidates with experience in the following areas, applied at a governance and strategic level:
Advocacy & Government Relations
- Experience engaging with municipal, provincial, or federal governments
- Knowledge of public policy development, advocacy strategy, or stakeholder engagement related to health, education, or social services
Strategic Communications, Marketing, and Public Relations
- Expertise in strategic communications, media relations, or public affairs
- Ability to guide awareness campaigns and strengthen national brand awareness and reputation
Technology & Digital Strategy
- Experience in technology governance, digital transformation, data, cybersecurity, online platforms and Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to advise on using digital tools to scale impact while managing risk
Legal (Human Resources, Governance, Charity)
- Experience in non-profit, charitable, or corporate law, governance, risk, Human Resources or regulatory compliance
- Ability to advise on policy development, fiduciary obligations, Human Resources and legal risk
Medical / Clinical
- Background in healthcare, mental health, psychology, psychiatry, pediatrics, or related fields
- Ability to provide insight into evidence-based ADHD practices and clinical trends
- Ability to keep a pulse on current events/trends in the ADHD/Neurodivergent space and quickly advise CADDAC on how best to respond
Time Commitment and Term
- Time commitment: Approximately 3–5 hours per month
- Meetings: Approximately six Board meetings per year, plus committee participation
- Term: A Director term is 3 years with an opportunity to renew in accordance with CADDAC’s By-Laws. Meetings are primarily virtual, with occasional in-person or special sessions as required.

- Prior board experience is an asset, but not required
- Lived experience with ADHD (personal or caregiving), and experience in mental health, education, or community sectors, are welcomed and valued.
